Minnesota state lawmakers return to St. Paul Tuesday and will be discussing funding measures. State Farmers Union Government Relations Director Stu Lourey says the major funding bill they want movement on is health insurance or the HHS legislation in the House.
He says they support the House package which contains the Governor’s One Care Buy In plan. Under that plan, farmers and others who buy health insurance on the individual market would get a public option that competes with the coverage available through traditional health plans.
Lourey says legislators were on recess last week and during that time the Minnesota Farmers Union held town hall meetings to discuss state legislative concerns among farmers. He says while there were several, health insurance topped the list.
Minnesota legislators are scheduled to end their 2019 session on May 20.
