Minnesota lawmakers start their 2018 legislative session today. Thom Petersen, Vice President of Government Relations for the Minnesota Farmers Union says their top priority for legislators this session centers around taxes.
He says another major goal is injecting more funding into the State Ag Department’s Rural Finance Authority.
Petersen says the ditch mowing issue needs to be resolved involving a simple permit process as well as proper timing for mowing.
Petersen says they also want to see lawmakers tweak the state’s buffer law.
