A group of Minnesota Farmers attending the National Biodiesel Board meeting in Washington DC this week made hill visits and talked to elected officials about issues effecting the industry. Jim Willers says one of their major requests is for a permanent biodiesel tax credit extension.
He says the Minnesota delegation is very concerned about all the hardship waivers being granted to refiners from the Renewable Fuel Standard. Willers says they made headway with Minnesota’s Senators and Congress people.
Willers says those waivers are costing Rural America in a number of ways.
Willers says his group was pleased that the EPA released their RFS Renewable Fuel Volume Obligations for 2020 and set biodiesel levels at 2.43 gallons. He says while they’re pleased with that number, it may not do any good unless the waiver issue is settled.
