The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association is requesting an extension to apply dicamba herbicide due to this spring’s delayed planting season. Soybean Association Director Bob Worth says many growers are just now getting in the field to plant soybeans and need extra time to spray dicamba and most of the crop won’t be at R1 by the June 20th cutoff date.
He says they wouldn’t ask for an adjustment in the regulation, but farmers have faced record rainfall and historic planting delays across the state.
Worth says their extension request on dicamba only applies to 2019.
He says they’ve sent their request to State Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen and are awaiting his response.
