A west-central Minnesota farmer has circled September 20th to begin harvesting corn. Brian Velde of Granite Falls says they had to overcome a late planting start

Velde says his corn is black-layered and they are likely to start combining corn prior to soybeans this year.  He predicts a “good” corn crop in his area, not quite as good as the last couple of years.
