Minnesota Farm Groups Want State Lawmakers To Make Changes In State Tax Law

The Minnesota state legislature is holding a special session this week and farm groups are hoping that it results in some changes in tax law. Minnesota Pork Producers Association CEO Dave Preisler says it contains a provision that would provide tax conformity in two areas.

He says the disparity in the state tax code is costly to Minnesota farmers and ranchers.

Preisler says the legislature also failed to pass a bonding bill during the regular session, but if they can reach a compromise there will be some benefits to agriculture.

The special session is being called by Governor Tim Walz to look at funding and other solutions to the current law enforcement issues in the state.
