A pair of Minnesota farm groups are disappointed with Governor Mark Dayton’s veto of the Ag Policy legislation approved by state lawmakers. State Farmers Union Government Relations Director Thom Petersen says the measure included several provisions important for farmers and ranchers. He says ag groups worked hard to get the legislation approved.
He says the bill contained needed loans for farmers and help for beginning producers. Petersen says the veto may also cause a delay of implementation of the nitrogen fertilizer rule.
Petersen says his group is also concerned another important measure for farmers and ranchers, the supplemental budget bill will likely also get vetoed.
The Minnesota Farm Bureau is also disappointed with the Ag Policy bill veto.
