President Donald Trump is moving ahead with scaling back financial service regulations. He’s issued an executive order calling for the Treasury Secretary to conduct a review of the Dodd Frank financial oversight law. Minnesota Farmers Union President Gary Wertish says Dodd Frank has provided important protections for farmers and is hoping if there’s changes, the protections will remain in place.

Trump pledged during his campaign for President to repeal and replace Dodd Frank. Wertish doesn’t think that’s a good idea.

Wertish isn’t opposed to changing Dodd Frank but says it doesn’t make sense to completely throw it out.

The executive order won’t have any immediate impact but it does direct the Treasury Secretary to consult with members of different regulatory agencies and report back on potential changes.
