Minnesota Farm Bureau Urges Infrastructure Bill Compromise

Minnesota Farm Bureau members want state lawmakers to come to agreement on an infrastructure bill to fund road and bridge upkeep. Farm Bureau Public Policy Director Amber Hanson Glaeser says both the House and Senate have passed different versions and need to work out a compromise.

She says the Senate has taken a hard line and doesn’t want to increase taxes to pay for the measure. However, the House is following Governor Tim Walz’s request for an increase in the gas tax.

Glaeser is optimistic the legislature will meet in the middle and pass an infrastructure bill.

Glaeser says they’ll have to move quickly as the legislature is scheduled to adjourn May 20.
