One of the major subjects Minnesota Farm Bureau members brought up in Washington DC last week when they met with federal lawmakers was trade. Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap says the two major deals under discussion now, TPP and TTIP are critical for agriculture. He says trade is now more important than it’s ever been.

Paap says U.S. trade negotiators need to take a hard stance with both the European Union and Japan with the TTIP and TPP,. wether it be tariff reductions, biotech or sanitary, phyto sanitary measures.

Paap says besides trade, Minnesota Farm Bureau members also spoke with federal lawmakers about regulatory concerns with EPA and farm bill implementation with USDA officials.
