Minnesota lawmakers return to work in St. Paul today for the 2019 legislative session. State Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap says with the split party control they’re focused on making sure lawmakers work together to achieve positive results for agriculture and pass a tax conformity bill.

He says they also want legislators to address other important ag issues such as improvements in the state buffer law, ditch mowing, and pollinators.

Paap says with so many new lawmakers, they have work to do to bring them up to speed on the important agricultural measures.

Paap says they already have a good relationship with incoming Governor Tim Walz from his time in the U.S. House.
