Farm leaders in the region are encouraged by recent developments on the USMCA. The Mexican Senate ratified the deal, the first country to do so. Plus, United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer says he’s made substantial progress in talks this week with Democratic leaders including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but it will take more work before the deal can be sent to Congress. Minnesota Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap is encouraged by the progress.

He says USMCA is particularly important for Minnesota’s farmers and ranchers.

Paap says Minnesota’s Congressional delegation is in a good position to influence the vote on the deal

Lighthizer added Speaker Pelosi has been completely fair and above board as he’s worked with her to address concerns over environmental and labor standards in the trade deal.
