Minnesota Farm Bureau officials are pleased with state legislature’s passage of the health insurance premium relief legislation. Governor Mark Dayton signed the $326 million measure on Friday. State Farm Bureau Associate Public Policy Director Cole Rupprecht says the bill helps address the rising cost of health insurance.
He says while some health insurance cost solutions were not included in the legislation, there was an important provision put in which will be beneficial for farm families.
Rupprecht says while more needs to be done to deal with health insurance costs, the rebate measure is at least a good initial step.
The eligible insurance customers will start seeing the 25-percent discount in March or April of this year and will also receive retroactive rebates for the first few months of 2017.
