16 Minnesota Farm Bureau members have been in the nation’s capital this week and have made visits to 10 of their Congressional offices. Young Farmer and Rancher Chair Pam Uhlenkamp is among those. She says their three key priorities are the new Farm Bill, making sure trade agreements are preserved and tax reform.
She says it’s critical SNAP remains part of the farm bill discussions to avoid any further cuts in the legislation.
Uhlenkamp says while keeping a strong crop insurance program in the new farm bill is important, making sure the dairy margin protection program is fixed is also important.
Uhlenkamp says of the 45 dairy producers she works with in Central Minnesota, none of them have been the benefits of the margin protection program so tweaking that needs to be done.
