Minnesota Farm Bureau members were on Capitol Hill this week meeting with members of Congress and the USDA. Farm Bureau Board Director and Cottonwood area farmer Carolyn Olson says one of their main priorities was talking about trade and its importance to Minnesota’s farmers and ranchers.

She says they also shared the need for lawmakers to come up with affordable health insurance for farmers and ranchers.

Olson says they also met with House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson and got an update on 2018 Farm Bill implementation.

Olson says they were encouraged most USDA staff members they met with come from farms and understand the economic stress producers are under.
