Minnesota Farm Bureau Keying On New Farm Bill And Renewable Fuels

Two priority measures coming out of this past weekend’s Minnesota Farm Bureau Annual meeting are pushing for a reliable new farm bill and a strong renewable fuel standard. State President Kevin Paap says having farm legislation that provides a solid safety net is critical for farmers facing the recent depressed ag economy.

He says there needs to be some adjustments made to the ARC and PLC provisions of the farm bill to help benefit all ag producers.

Paap says having a strong renewable fuel standard in place is important for rural communities to be able to thrive and that includes raising the RFS to the statutory levels.

The EPA is expected to come out with the 2017 RFS levels at the end of this month.
