Minnesota lawmakers wrapped up their 2014 session ahead of Monday’s deadline finishing up on Friday. The State Farm Bureau’s Policy Director gives legislators an A minus grade for their efforts. Doug Busselman says two of his group’s major tax issues were passed. He says one involved repeals of taxes that would have hurt farmers and ranchers.
Busselman says the other major tax issue Farm Bureau wanted handled was the re calculation of the Homestead tax credit which gives producers and others property tax relief.
He says longer term that rate eventually caps out at $ 490. Busselman says one issue Farm Bureau played defense on successfully was retaining the wolf hunt and trapping seasons.
Busselman says they were also able to keep the state biodiesel tax credit in place along with the minimum wage rate so it didn’t rise dramatically.
