Minnesota Farm Bureau Eyes Tax Conformity and Less Regulation in State Legislature

Minnesota Farm Bureau members are working on tax conformity and battling regulations during the state legislative session. Public Policy Director Amber Hanson Glaeser says they support a measure to bring Minnesota’s Section 179 equipment expensing rule in line with the federal tax provision.

She says they’re also tracking environmental regulations that could come up next week in both the House and Senate Ag Committees.

And Glaeser says they’re waiting for the full rule on the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Nitrogen Fertilizer plan, which should come up in a couple of months.

She says they’re trying to avoid having the 30-day public comment period in May as farmers are too busy with planting to provide input.
