Minnesota Farm Bureau Carries Issues to Washington

Minnesota Farm Bureau members were in Washington D.C. last week lobbying Congress on key agricultural issues. Winona County Farm Bureau member Carl Sackreiter says their three major priorities included the farm bill, trade and health insurance coverage.

He says they also want Congress to pass the Trans Pacific Partnership and will have to work with legislators to convince both Presidential Candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton to back the deal.

Sackreiter says health insurance availability, as well as the escalating cost, is a big issue for Minnesota’s farmers.

Sackreiter says the health insurance crisis is an especially tough issue for those just starting to farm.
