A Drought Relief Bill has passed the MN House Ways and Means Committee. House File 3420 would offer grants through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture for drought-related expenses and $5 million for Rural Finance Authority Loans. Stu Lourey Government Relation Director for MN farmers union says this legislation would provide immediate relief to Minnesota producers.

He says although this would be a step in the right direction, it’s far from an end solution.

The authors of this bill are Representatives Mike Sundin from Esko, MN, and Luke Frederick from Mankato, MN.
