The Minnesota Department of Health has warned people in Winona and Albert Lea that someone who traveled through those areas from Illinois last week had a confirmed case of the measles. Mayo Clinic Pediatrician Dr. Nusheen Ameenuddin says this is a reminder vaccination against the illness is important.

Ameenuddin says measles can, in fact, be serious with health complications occurring in about 30 percent of cases nationwide. There have been no confirmed measles cases among Minnesota residents.
