Minnesota Department of Health Releases Adverse Health Event Numbers

Between October 2015 and October 2016 there were 336 adverse health events reported to the Minnesota Department of Health.  As in previous years, falls and pressure ulcers were the most commonly reported, accounting for 60-percent. MDH spokeswoman Rachel Jokela says of the reports submitted 106 events resulted in serious injury and there were four deaths.  She says this compares to 15 deaths the year before

During the last reporting period there were 26 cases of retained foreign objects left in patients.  Jokela says many of the items reported were parts of tubing, drains and packing.
