Minnesota Dairy Producers Advised To Micro Manage Their Farm Finances

The Minnesota Milk Producers Association this week hosted a dairy farm finance webinar featuring AgCentric Director Keith Olander. Association Executive Director Lucas Sjostrom says the data he shared indicated how some Minnesota dairies survived in 2019, part of it due to off farm income.

He says one of the major takeaways from the webinar is the advice Olander gave on making sure dairy operators micro-manage their operations.

Sjostrom says many dairy producers micro-managed in 2019 by taking advantage of the Dairy Revenue Protection and Dairy Margin Coverage programs which helped them survive the economic downturn.

Sjostrom says it’s important dairy farmers communicate their financial situation to consumers to encourage a shared vision of dairy’s future. More information on the webinar is available on the Minnesota Milk Producers Association website.
