Many regions across the Midwest are desperate for rain as hot and dry weather conditions continues to plague many farmers and placing stress on the crops. David Nikoli is a University of Minnesota Extension Crops Specialist. He tells what the crop conditions are like in the Gopher state. Nikoli was asked if there is enough subsoil moisture to produce a corn crop, if we don’t get another rain for some time? The University of Minnesota crops specialist says farmers had worst conditions a year ago. He says due to the late planting, crops will need moisture all the way through September.
