The U.S. Senate has moved their farm bill to the conference committee and named their conferees. Minnesota Corn Growers Association President Kirby Hettver is pleased they’re forging ahead and is hoping for quick passage.

And is he concerned that Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar wasn’t named as conferee?, and that North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp was.

Hettver says the primary thing Congress must get done is complete the farm bill before it expires the end of September. He says the other imperative is making sure a strong crop insurance program is provided in the final measure.

Hettver says having the certainty of having a farm bill in place is critical for growers who are making five year business plans.
