Friday, Minnesota Corn Growers Association members began a series of meetings with candidates running for Governor. Policy Director Amanda Bilek says they extended invitations to 13 of the candidates and have so far scheduled 7 meetings on farms with a grower leader. She says it’s an opportunity for the candidate to see how farms operate and to understand the issues critical to their industry.
She says some of the issues they’re talking to the candidates about include everything from sustainability to water quality to conservation and value added opportunities for producers.
BIlek says they’re also talking about taxes, health care and transportation.
Bilek says information about each on farm meeting with the candidate is available on the Minnesota Corn Grower’s website. At this point meetings run from October through November 8 with possibly more meetings added later on.
