Minnesota Congressmen React To Russian Ag Ban

Today, Russia’s Prime Minister laid out their response to Western sanctions by announcing a ban of U.S. ag products including beef, pork, fruit, vegetables, poultry, fish, cheese, milk, and dairy products. Minnesota Congressman Tim Walz says there’s been troubling events linked to Russia recently that have led to unrest in Ukraine and the downing of an airliner.
Walz says by banning ag products, Russia will have a problem feeding their people.
House Ag Committee ranking member and Minnesota Congressman Collin Peterson says Russia has been a difficult trading partner in the past and this just adds to that problem.
Peterson says Russia is guilty of trade protectionism and doesn’t base any of its trading decisions on sound science.
Russia placed their ag ban on not only the United States but also on Canada, the European Union, Australia, and Norway for one year.
