Minnesota Cattlemen’s Association Tracking Several Bills In State Legislature

Minnesota Cattlemen’s Association members are tracking several bills making their way through the state legislature. Cattlemen’s Executive Director Allison VanderWal says they’re very concerned that paycheck protection loan monies are being taxed at the state level and what to see a bill approved to remove those.

She says they’re also watching two measures dealing with the State Pollution Control Agency. VanderWal says one is being proposed by PCA that would increase some rulemaking fees and the other has to do with feedlot permit rules.

VanderWal says they’re also monitoring legislation to make some changes to the Board of Animal Health. She says one would add some members which they’re ok with but they don’t want the Executive Director appointed by the Governor so it becomes a political agency.

The legislature is scheduled to adjourn May 17.
