Minnesota state lawmakers are pushing toward a May 17 session deadline but could meet beyond that. There are several unfinished pieces of business concerning for Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association members. Cattlemen’s Executive Director Allison VanderWal says one of those is a measure to add members to the State Board of Animal Health and provide for appointment of the Board’s Executive Director.

She says they’re also waiting to see what happens with the bill regarding the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit being heard in the Environmental Committee.

VanderWal says another issue of concern is making sure state lawmakers remove the state tax on PPP federal covid relief payments.

VanderWal says overall it’s been a very busy session and they’re hoping lawmakers get wrapped up as soon as possible.
