The Minnesota Cattle Industry Convention kicked off yesterday in Bloomington with their policy session. Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association President Krist Wollum says they passed several resolutions, including one that requires plant-based meat substitutes and food products that are not conventionally harvested from cattle, not be labeled as meat or burgers.
He says another resolution was passed regarding ditch mowing in Minnesota. It would require more public information about the cost savings and safety benefits the Department of Transportation derives from farmers mowing the road ditches.
Wollum says they also want a permanent solution to the Electronic Logging Device or ELD rule for livestock haulers, or at least an adjustment to the hours of service.
The convention runs through Saturday and also features a trade show, Cattlemen’s College and entertainment Friday night by the Second Amendments.
