The COVID 19 Pandemic is affecting farmers and ranchers as they work to maintain a stable domestic food supply. All areas of the commodity sector are being impacted. Southwest Minnesota Cattle producer Pete Bakken is one of those dealing with a price slump as well as the effects of the pandemic.
He says one of his primary concerns is the present economic conditions make it difficult if not impossible to pass his operation down to the next generation when he retires.
Bakken says he’s having a difficult enough time trying to keep his head above water.
The sharp decline in commodity prices has hit all facets of U.S. agriculture and the pandemic is just compounding those effects.
