The Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) is likely reversing course on proposed buffer law penalties after sharp criticism from landowners, Governor Mark Dayton and state Republicans
BWSR Executive Director John John Jashke says when board members meet on Thursday they will likely reject the proposal to fine farmers and landowners not in compliance with buffer requirements up to $500 per linear foot. Dayton and Republicans had argued that the penalty was unreasonable.
