Governor Mark Dayton says the state will make “its best application” to try to land Amazon’s second North American headquarters in Minnesota, but will look “in a very restrained way at offering any financial inducements.” The governor says it’s because Target and Best Buy are headquartered in the state, and in direct competition with Amazon:
Dayton says he called the Best Buy and Target C-E-Os last week and told them their companies are “hugely important” to Minnesota. He says the executives expressed concern about using tax dollars, but recognize this is an opportunity for the state.
