Minnesota Ag Department Adopts Temporary Hemp Rules

The Minnesota State Department of Agriculture has brought their state industrial hemp plan in line with the USDA. Tony Cortilet is Supervisor of the Minnesota Ag Department’s Noxious Weed and Hemp Program. He says their temporary rule has now been adopted governing the processing and growing of industrial hemp.

He says remediation is allowed if the hemp plants exceed 0.3 percent total THC threshold under 1 percent total THC.

Cortilet says the other remediation step that can be taken is to mx the stem, the leaf and the plant and dilute it to at or below the 0.3 percent THL level. He also says their temporary rule is effective until August 16 of 2023 to give them time to go through the rule making process.

Cortilet says anyone wanting details on their industrial hemp program can go the MDA website or give their state office at call.
