Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has directed the State Departments of Agriculture and Transportation to lead engagement on a broad range of stakeholders to help inform on a new Clean Fuel Standard in the state. Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen says they’ll be meeting in November and December with the intent of coming up for a report for the legislature when they convene in January.

He says the departments will take a close look at carbon intensity and the benefits of renewables in helping the environment.

Petersen says they’ll also be talking about the push to take advantage of higher blends of biofuels and fit that into the Clean Fuels Standard.

Petersen says they’ll be studying how the carbon standards are working in both Oregon and California and what effect prices at the gas pump are having on consumers.
