In its first event of the spring, the South Dakota State women’s golf team finished third at the 2016 GCU Spring Invitational at the Grand Canyon Golf Course.
The Jackrabbits, who started the day in a four-way tie for first and had a seven-stroke lead with six holes remaining, shot a final round 305 (306-311-305=922) to finish third. North Dakota State won the event, shooting a final-round 301 (318-299-301=918) on the par-71, 6,115-yard course.
Junior Megan Mingo (Yankton) turned in the best finish of her career, tying for fourth after shooting a three round 227 (76-75-76).
Senior Brianna Janu (Glenwood, Minn.) recorded her best collegiate finish, tying for sixth after shooting a three-over par 74 (77-78-74=229) in the final round.
Junior Hallie Getz (Pierre) shot a final round five-over par 76 to finish 16th (80-76-76=232).
