For the first time in South Dakota State Division I women’s golf history, Megan Mingo captured the individual title Tuesday at the 2017 Summit League Championship.
The Jackrabbits, who had a two-stroke lead going into the final round, shot a 912 (297-314-301) on the par-72, 6,142-yard ArborLinks Golf Course. Denver defended its title, winning by six strokes.
Mingo, the Championship MVP, is the first Jackrabbit in SDSU Division I history to win an individual league title and the fourth in school history. The Yankton native led from start to finish, ending the championship with a 222 (69-80-73) and championship-best 10 birdies.
All-Tournament selection Teresa Toscano tied for third, firing a 227 (75-77-75) with six birdies. The last time Jackrabbit teammates finished in the top five at The Summit League Championship was in the 2008 championship.
