South Dakota State junior Megan Mingo from Yankton was named The Summit League Women’s Golfer of the Month Wednesday after leading the Jackrabbits in three October events.
Mingo is the first Jackrabbit in school history to earn the female golf of the month honor.
Mingo recorded a 74.22 stroke average for the month after finishing in the top 10 twice. She fired a 54-hole 218 (73-69-76), including a career-low 69 in the second round, and finished tied for sixth at the Nebraska Chip-N Club Invitational Oct. 5-6.
At the Payne Stewart Memorial Oct. 12-13, Mingo recorded her second top-10 finish placing eighth (228). She tied for 12th at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational (222) Oct. 21-23.
For her nine rounds this month, Mingo collected 15 birdies. She leads SDSU with a 75.60 for the season.
The Jackrabbits return to action Feb. 22-24 at the Grand Canyon Spring Invitational hosted Grand Canyon in Phoenix, Ariz.
