Friday’s recommendations issued by the 2015 Dietary Guideline Advisory Committee are seen as friendly to the dairy industry. That’s according to Chris Galen of the National Milk Producers Federation.

Galen is pleased the committee has advised USDA and Health and Human Services that including more of dairy products in the diet is good. He says however the overall report is very controversial.

The public comment period on the recommendations will be open for 45 days. Also USDA and HHS will review the report and comments from the public and other federal agencies as the process to update the guidelines begins.
