House GOP leaders say that the President’s move to pressure them to get Immigration Reform passed may backfire and make action harder. National Milk Producer Federation’s Chris Galen says pressure is needed in order to get Representatives moving to get that needed legislation passed. He says they’re facing a very narrow window and need to stop kicking the can down the road on an issue that’s been discussed for ten years.
Galen says a comprehensive measure doesn’t have to be reached but the House needs to pass something that can be combined with what the Senate already has approved.
Galen says immigration reform is needed not just for production agriculture and the dairy industry but for all types of businesses.
The Senate a year and a half ago passed a sweeping immigration measure that dealt with border security, workplace enforcement and eventual citizenship for millions.
