The Midwest Row Crop Collaborative has been formed to help farmers improve soil health and water quality on their operations. Cargill is working closely with General Mills and Walmart to help farmers in the Mississippi River basin. Jill Kolling is Senior Director of Sustainability for Cargill.

She says the Collaborative is providing $4 million over five years to the National Corn Growers Association’s Soil Health partnership to help farmers utilize a number of conservation practices.

Kolling says their primary goal is to help farmers improve the environment, while obtaining financial benefits from their practices.

Kolling says another goal of the Midwest Row Crop Collaborative is to do a better job of connecting farmers with consumers.
