After hot temperatures early this summer, the region might enjoy moderate temperatures this fall and winter.
University of Nebraska – Lincoln climatologist Ken Dewey says transitions from one season to another can be swift in Nebraska, but he sees a return to warmer temperatures in August after a mild July.
Dewey says the computer models indicate fall and winter might be mild without the brutal cold which hit the northern plains in late December last winter.
Dewey says the first snows could fall in November.
