The GPAC went one for one in Wednesday’s NAIA men’s opening round.

The Midland University Warriors were the only GPAC men’s team in action on the opening day of the 2014 NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship at the Keeter Gymnasium on the campus of College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.

The Warriors entered the touranment as the tenth-seed, and opened the day with a 69-61 win over Embry-Riddle (Fla.) to advance to the second round. Midland controlled the game from the begining, and seemed to be pulling away, but Embry Riddle went on a 15-7 run to pull within six with just over three minutes left in the game. The Warriors hit four free throws in the final 40 seconds to seal the win.

Midland, now 27-5, will play seventh-seed Saint Xavier (Ill.) in a second-round match-up on Friday, March 14 at 8:30 a.m.

On Thursday, Morningside starts the day off taking on Oklahoma Wesleyan at 8:30 a.m., while Dordt wraps up first round play at 9:15 p.m. against William Penn (Iowa).
