When Texas froze up last February during the polar vortex, it sent a sharp spike in natural gas costs across much of the country. Many gas utilities are still trying to recover those excess costs from their customers.
Mid American Energy was before the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission this week, asked for an adjustment to their recovery rates.
The company told the commission they had collected about ten million dollars of the thirty five million they needed.
Commission Chairman Chris Nelson wanted more exact details from the company….
Nelson says he can’t support their waiver request….
Nelson told the company he doesn’t agree with the financials they presented….
The Commission decided to delay any decision on the rate waiver until their next meeting on January 4th.
