Mid America Economy Still Showing Signs of Improvement

The monthly Mid America business conditions report from Creighton University shows some solid, but mixed numbers.

Ernie Goss, who coordinates the nine state survey, says the overall index is still in growth territory……

That is up from fifty-seven point five in August. Any number over fifty predicts growth in the months ahead.

Goss says the jobs index dropped to fifty-two, from fifty-nine-point two last month. He says businesses still expect to add more jobs…..

Goss says while the numbers are fairly good, much in the future will depend on what Congress can get done……

Goss says businesses will also be watching action by the Federal Reserve on interest rates.
