30 Minnesota Farmers Union members are among those attending the National Farmers Union’s Fly In in the nation’s capital this week. MFU Vice President Gary Wertish says their top three issues are country of origin labeling, the renewable fuel standard and trade. He says they support having a voluntary cool program through the legislation sponsored by Senator Debbie Stabenow.
Wertish says they’re also calling for higher volume levels in the Renewable Fuel Standard and want those brought up to the statutory levels.
Wertish says they’re watching negotiations going on with the Trans Pacific Partnership and want that pact and others to address currency manipulation done by other countries that lessens the value of U.S. ag products.
The Fly in runs through Friday.
