Last week, a team of 20 Mexican industry leaders were in Nebraska touring farms and visiting ethanol processing plants. Nebraska Corn Growers Association and Corn Board Executive Director Kelly Brunkhorst says hosting the trade team allowed them to show how ethanol goes from the feed stock product of corn all the way to the retail level.
He says Mexico is developing their own ethanol industry and Nebraska is in a great position to supply them what they need to get that going.
Brunkhorst says part of the makeup of the Mexican trade team including some members of their Congress that make decisions on ethanol and trade policy.
The Mexican delegations visit to Nebraska was an offshoot of the first ever Global Ethanol Summit held last week in Washington D.C. That event was hosted by U.S. Grains Council, Growth Energy and the Renewable Fuels Association.
