Mexican companies are already switching some of their soybean business to South America due to the uncertainty about NAFTA. On the South Dakota Soybean See for Yourself Tour farmers visited one of the largest soybean processing plants in Mexico Proteinas Yoleicos. Soy meal sales manager Ricardo Acevedo Vales says 70-percent of their soybeans had been coming from the U.S., but that has changed.
He says the countries need to work together to make the trade deal better for everyone involved.
However, he doesn’t believe Mexico will withdraw from NAFTA.
