The double deck, Meridian Bridge over the Missouri River at Yankton was reopened as a walking-biking bridge in 2011, after the new, four lane Discovery Bridge was completed.

Officials with the City of Yankton, the owner of the Meridian Bridge have been talking about doing an underwater inspection of the bridge for several years.

City Manager Amy Leon says that isn’t in the budget right now…

Leon says they are still relying on the last inspection of the bridge when it was still in use…

Leon says the inspection will stay on their wish list…

The inspection could cost a quarter million dollars or more.
