Logistical problems continue for U.S. exporters trying to get commodities to foreign markets. The earlier problem of container shortages hasn’t improved much either. That’s according to U.S. Meat Export Federation President and CEO Dan Halstrom.

He’s hoping the problem of empty containers going out and the lack of those being available will work itself out once the peak import season is over.

Halstrom says as containers are being rolled at U.S. ports, frozen meat shipments are left sitting.

Halstrom says what’s positive is that federal policy makers and ag groups are putting pressure on the Federal Maritime Commission to take steps to help correct this problem.
